Mama Musings #8

This Week’s Mama Moments

The sweetest sound to a Mother’s ear is the delightful squeal of her child when she sees a REAL giraffe for the first time! It happened this week, when we made an impromptu visit to The Toronto Zoo. Even though the main attraction the baby pandas, which L.B. had very little interest in. The highlight of her trip was definitely seeing this little baby giraffe because she couldn’t stop talking about it all week. Open-mouthed smile

This Week’s Fun Food Choices:

I might have had just a little too much fun this week…On Monday, I decided to binge watch a couple of new release movies on Netflix right after L.B. went to bed. I’m quickly reminded of why I stopped watching movies at home because I have a bad habit of needing to snack during a movie. Fyi – I did not eat the whole box maybe just half of it.

Tuesday, March 8th was International Women’s Day. In Europe (where Hubby comes from) this is a very important holiday for women and for men too (because they are tasked with giving flowers/gifts to celebrate the women in their lives). My Mother-in-law told me that me that when she was a young girl her teacher would sent her and all her female classmates to the Principal’s office to receive a rose on this special day. Flowers are nice but my Hubby knows me best. If there is a day that needs to be celebrated just give me cake !!!

This was definitely a Cake Week! But, I’m not complaining, Smile with tongue out because where there is cake there is an important celebration. Right? On Wednesday, we were invited to celebrate the birthday of a beautiful little 2-year-old girl. It was such blessing to be a part of the celebration with her family. Before we started eating, the grandfather prayed over all the food that was being served.  It was a great reminder that we should never forget to give thanks for all that we receive, especially for our little ones !

This Week’s Healthy Food Choices:

Just when, I thought that I would never get sick of eating my delicious protein waffles. I got a little sick of eating my delicious protein waffles Smile with tongue out after eating it every single day last week. Thankfully, egg whites was on sale at No Frills this week for $2.99 (each 1/2c serving yields about 14g of protein) combine that with 2 whole eggs and I’ve got myself a healthy delicious high protein omelet for only .87 cents!

I’m eating this everyday for breakfast this week! (until I get sick of it)

Back in the winter of 2015, I started a weekly playdate with a few stay-at-home moms in our neighborhood. We take turns hosting the playdates in our homes and bring snacks to share. Our babies have a great time exploring a different home each week, neighbors get to know each other and moms get to try new baking recipes. Now that the weather is warming up for Spring. I think, it’s time to let the oven take a little break. So, this week I brought some fresh strawberries to our playdate.

Mama’s Outfit of The Week

One of the things, I enjoy most about blogging is the motivation it gives me to document/take photos of things that I normally wouldn’t care to do. As I mention last week, I spend most of my time in yoga pants and running shoes but I’m trying to make an effort to dress up at least once a week because it feels good to do something for myself. Remember: A happy mommy = a happy family! This was my outfit for Friday’s Mama’s Night Out.
