Mommy Musings #6

This week has gone by so fast…almost too fast!

Summer is very short-lived where we are, so I’m trying to make the most of it by filling our days with lots of outdoor activities.

Mommy Moments: We’ve been enjoying a lot of picnics lately, thanks to this awesome picnic mat that I always carry with us.  I also make sure to fill up our fitmark cooler with healthy meals/snacks for L.B. and myself every morning before we leave the house, so that we won’t get stranded without food. My daughter loves to eat (just like her Mama) trust me, you don’t wanna see either one of us, when we’re HANGRY.

Food Tip of the Week: Cook extra food for freezing

I’m usually really good with cooking enough food to get us through the week but I’ve noticed that once the weekend arrives. We are either out of food or stuck with eating fast food. Sad smile Our weekends are usually super hectic with so many errands to run, places to go and chores to finish, it’s really hard to find the time to eat properly. So, this week we started to make extra food during the week for freezing, so that when we get home late from a long day of running errands. There is a healthy meal ready for us to just reheat & eat! Fitness Tip of the Week: Start Now!

Don’t wait until Monday, because honestly how many times have you said that you’ll start tomorrow ?

If you are tired of feeling out of shape. Yes, I know that motherhood is very tiring but nothing will change until you make the changes to reflect the lifestyle that you want to live.

Most of us want to be more active & eat healthier, so do that by making a commitment to yourself to do one or more of the following;

  • Commit to exercise, i.e. Go for a long walk, swim or lift some weights Smile with tongue out
  • Eat most of your meals at home, start with breakfast or pack your lunch.
  • Reduce the amount of sugar that you consume

Whatever decision you make to get healthy, just take the first step and start today !

Healthy Meals of the Week: It drives me crazy that some people still think healthy eating, means you’re only allow to eat celery & carrot sticks all day! I’ll let you in on my secret, I rarely eat celery & carrot sticks Smile with tongue out

  • Healthy eating means eating a balance meal of protein, carbs & fats (& veggies)
  • Healthy eating means eating with portion control (not buffet style)
  • Healthy eating means sitting down with your family to share a meal, a story and some laughter
  • Healthy eating means you can eat Pizza too (homemade) if you exercise portion control

Fun Food of the Week: I hate labeling food as “good” or “bad”. We already know that food with lots of sugar, fat and unrefined flour is not healthy for you. But it tastes so darn good! right? So, instead labeling these foods as “bad” and making yourself feel “guilty” whenever you eat it. I prefer calling these “Fun” foods to be enjoyed in moderation. We had some “Fun” cake on Thursday when we celebrated my daughter’s 23rd birth-day Smile 2015-07-23 17.56.49

Bible Verse of the Week: Matthew 6:1

As I begin to blog more frequently, this verse reminds me to stay focused on the purpose for blogging.
